If you live in/around/near/ one of the cities this tour is visiting, it is highly recommended you try and catch some of the craziness. We’re still trying to figure out what we would need to sell to get to Chicago by the 16th - people only need one kidney, right?!

Rock Chalk Jayhawks!!!

Usually folks here in Lawrence head out to the bars to hear great music, but recently we’ve all been heading to the bars to cheer on our local basketball team, the University of Kansas Jayhawks, as they play in the March Madness NCAA Basketball Tournament. Sunday afternoon the ‘Hawks held off Davidson college to advance into the Final Four, and the entire town of Lawrence went NUTS. Instantly, kids (of all ages) flooded into the streets, screaming and yelling, waving anything KU they could grab. The town was pretty much shut down for the celebration, as boobies and alcoholic beverages has free run of the streets. For a small taste of the craziness, check out this YouTube Video:

The Final Four game is next week, where NOT ONLY will KU get a chance to advance to the championship game, they’ll also get a chance to beat the pants off their former coach, Roy Williams. Even though we’re not known for our athletic ability here at the BCD, we’re having fun rooting for our team and watching the madness. Just like with most everything else, Lawrence is such a small and diverse community it’s not unusual for the lead singer in your favorite local band to also be a giant basketball fan - it’s just one of the many reasons we love it here in Kansas.

Rock Chalk Jayhawk, GO KU!!!

Check out more photos of the basketball craziness here.

From the BCD archives…

About 4 years ago we did up a radio ad for BCD. Since it was going to be aired on 96.5 The Buzz we wanted it to sounds as much like a proper annoying whizz-bang radio spot as possible. Our BFF Eric provided the vocal fireworks, enjoy!

DJ Squeak. E. Clean - the newest member of the BCD familia!!

Most days are good days here at the ‘ol BCD, but the day we heard we were going to be DJ Squeak E. Clean’s official store, was better than most! This cool cat is not only a DJ, he has done music for everything from skate videos (like the recently released, sick-as-hell “Fully Flared,” directed by Squeak E. Clean’s brother Spike Jonze), to Adidas commercials; and has worked with folks like (to name a very, very few) director Mark Romanek, Karen O. and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and Maroon 5. To read some more about the life and adventures of this busy Squeak E. Clean fellow , you should check out his MySpace page.

fighting teethies in NASA shirties!!

Squeak E. Clean’s newest project is the “North American South America” project or NASA. At almost four and a half years in the making, N.A.S.A is the brain child of Squeak E. Clean and DJ Zegon, and is all about, “People from different worlds coming together through shared inspiration and love of music.” What this means to you is tracks featuring collaborations between musicians of wildly different backgrounds like Ol’ Dirty Bastard with Karen O, and Fatlip, David Byrne with Chali 2na and Gift of Gab, or Tom Waits and Kool Keith. Seriously.  Though we’re still (sort-of-patiently) awaiting the release of the N.A.S.A record, we’ve got shirts for the project available to buy now. Check out the black N.A.S.A shirt that our Glen is modeling in the photo collage - click on the photo to see all the different flavors of these tasty space-monkey shirts.

There’s still some snow on the ground here in Kansas, but if the hype on this N.A.S.A project is any indicator it’s gonna be one hot, hot year for Squeak. E. Clean and for BCD.

things we don’t hate: Ben and Joey Show edition

podcast mu fuccaWe’d like to send a shout-out to our friends over at the Ben and Joey Show. They recently launched a podcast and if you like stories about recycling bins and songs about turkey legs you’re in luck. I don’t know a lot about podcasting but apparently you need a theme song.

Get them here, get them first…

We’ve got two new pre-orders going on this week - check them out!

Cavity Pre-Order

You can pre-order the CD re-issue of Cavity’s sludge-metal eardrum-destroyer of an album “Laid Insignificant” along with a limited-edition print, t-shirt, and / or hoodie (while supplies last). Click on the photo above for all the details, and thanks to Hydra Head Records for continuing to put out quality, tasty stuff like this. Speaking of, Hydra Head is looking at a VERY busy spring, full of pre-orders for album releases from bands like Kayo Dot, Torche, and more….so hold on to your butts folks!

beans - no, I mean Mike Birbiglia's new DVD. No, I mean beans! Wait...

And then there’s comedian Mike Birbiglia’s new DVD, “What I Should Have Said Was Nothing.” Now - while saying nothing may have made Mike’s life slightly less traumatic, we’re very glad he let his mouth run rampant, and even more glad he decided to let all of us in on the craziness with his new DVD. If you’ve seen this cat on Comedy Central recently (I did last weekend and I laughed so hard I “Fergied” my pants a ‘lilbit), then you don’t need somebody to tell you how funny his stuff is, you already know. If you haven’t seen Mike on tha TV, check out some of his comedy here. Click on the picture above to get more details, and to pre-order Mike’s DVD. Use the time you wait to stock up on toilet paper or depends. You’ll need them.

New Feature: Media Mail!

awesome guy and his awesome cd-r collectionawesome guy and his awesome cd-r collectionawesome guy and his awesome cd-r collection

Big update: today we added Media Mail as a shipping option for all music-only orders. This has been one of the most requested features recently forever. If you’re not familiar, Media Mail (Wiki link, pops) is for cds, vinyl, audio tapes, books, etc., and is cheaper than Priority Mail. Since the Post Office hiked rates last year Priority Mail has been the only way to ship most vinyl, and given the dramatic price increase of the postage it’s mostly sucked ass for anyone interested in records. CD-R guy up there approves, big time.

Feedback time, let’s hear it!

According to the stats about 10 people are reading this thing, so I figured we should ask what you think about, well, everything. Let us know what you love, hate, features you’d like to request, how much you love our hawt models, how ugly the blog is, if you’d like your orders delivered via magic carpet, etc. Post a comment and make yourself heard!
